CBD is Showing Up Everywhere

Not the CBD as in Central Business District, CBD as in Cannabidiol, a compound derived from the Cannabis plant.

You will find our article titled What is Cannabidiol (CBD)? very helpful with understanding CBD.

CBD is already part of many medicinal preparations, but it is also showing up in all sorts of other products being sold in outlets like chemists, department stores and even coffee shops. Shampoos, body lotions, dog food and even your morning coffee are just a few.

From a product that was literally quite obscure, CBD is now on the minds and in the plans of a lot of manufacturers, entrepreneurs and consumers.

In the USA, the trigger for this happened in December 2018 when President Trump signed the Farm Bill into law. This legalized the production of hemp from which CBD is derived. However, the trend is growing globally, regardless of the fact there is little clinical research to support the claims.

Claims include relief from inflammation, pain, anxiety and stress.

Having said this, in 2018 the Federal Drug Authority (FDA) in the USA did approve a drug containing CBD for relief from certain types of epilepsy.

Companies already producing and selling products include the following .

  • Denver based Balanced Health Botanicals, selling CBD extracts, oils, tinctures, gummies and capsules.
  • Lab to Beauty, selling face washes, masks and moisturizers.
  • botanicaSEATTLE, with several brands such as SPOT with a line of cannabis infused chocolates and fruit chews, and Mr. Moxleys Mints with a line of infused mints.

But these are just a few. New products and ventures are appearing almost daily.
